Who doesn’t like chocolate chip cookies, especially straight out of the oven, when the chocolate is still melty – mmm, a little piece of heaven! Based on the traditional Tollhouse recipe, the Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is a basic for every cook. This version features big bittersweet morsels and pecans. I also changed up the sugar to brown sugar ratio a little from the original.

I made rugelach for Food Blogger Cookie Swap 2013. The cream cheese dough produces a cookie that’s not as sweet as many other holiday treats. Not to worry, I added preserves, pecans and chocolate chips so you won’t feel deprived one bit!

“Samoa” Shortbread Cookies

Girl Scout cookie season is here. My favorite are samoas. How about you? Here are my “Samoa” Shortbread Cookies. They look at little different from the original, but they taste fabulous…. and to take them up a notch, I finished them with a touch of extra coarse sea salt. Shortbread, coconut, caramel and dark chocolate – what’s not to love?!
